Since I decided to give myself to photography a few years ago, I’ve been lucky enough to go on dozens of road trips in several countries, to see some breathtaking places, to experience some stunning moments, and to take thousands upon thousands of photographs. And yet, when I look back at all of those years, my favorite images come from just a handful of days.
Those were the magical moments, when everything aligned perfectly to create a scene that made me feel like I was living in a dream, or on a different planet. When I lost track of time, and when it was all about exploring that magic with my camera.
Unreal moments like these don’t come around very often; in fact, they are very, very rare. Even though I go out to take photographs almost every day, I run into those special conditions only once or twice a year. That’s what makes them so, so precious.
I relish a few of those moments as the ones that define my photography; and dare I say, my life.
They gave me not only some of my best single images, but also plenty of other good photographs. One of those days can result in more good images than weeks or even months of daily outings.
Photography is not about waiting around for those moments to come, though; we need to be ready, we need to be prepared. That’s why it’s so important to embrace a daily practice.
By getting out often, we get familiar with our camera gear, how to use it and what to expect from it; we test our preparedness in the field, from having the proper clothing to knowing the location; it’s also through repetition that we polish our workflow and develop our own style.
Only after spending hundreds of hours in the field, and after taking thousands of bad photos, we can be prepared to make the most of those magical days that will eventually come.

Thank you so much for being there once again. Talk to you next week,
