It’s been a while.
Most of you won’t remember you were subscribed to this newsletter. Some might not even remember who I am. Understandably so.
I’m about to bring this list and the community back to life, so if you aren’t interested in receiving updates from me, you’ll find a link to unsubscribe at the bottom of this email.
why
I don’t want a social media app to be the main platform we connect with each other, and the only way to share my work with all of you. Even though I post very often on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube, we are at the mercy of those companies and their algorithms. I don’t want to spend a second thinking about how to beat them. I want to focus on what I believe I do best: create images and sharing them with you.
Even though it might sound old fashioned, a newsletter is probably the best way we have to achieve this without any middlemen controlling the conversation. It even makes the conversation easier, simply reply to this email and we’ll be talking.
what
I’ll be sharing here whatever I share on those social media platforms, and more.
how
A weekly email, every Monday, directly to your inbox. Nothing else for the rest of the week.

it’s within you
I love hearing from people who were inspired by my work or my words. That’s why I do what I do: I believe photography can help us and make our lives better. It’s an incredible tool of both self-discovery, and to discover the world around us.
It’s not an easy path, though. There are ups and downs: I struggled quite a lot with my work in the past. I almost quit a few years ago, but the Bronica saved me. It brought a new approach to photography I didn’t know. It created the spark that is still igniting my photography even now, years later, when I don’t use it as often as I used to.
I get messages about this camera quite often, it seems to have done the same for many people. It makes me really happy. But it also concerns me.
The Bronica was the catalyst that brought change to my vision, not the reason for it. The real journey was happening inside me. And the same applies to you.
Never, ever, believe that a piece of gear makes you the photographer you are. You have a vision, and you will use whatever equipment you have to make it happen. A nice camera helps, but never blame it -or credit it- for your failures -or successes-.
It’s within you.
new images
new videos
Last week, I released 3 new videos on YouTube:
Photographing colorful landscapes in B&W, part I ~ Canyonlands National Park
Photographing colorful landscapes in B&W, part II ~ Arches National Park
“If I don’t have red, I use blue” - Picasso
I used this quote from Picasso in one of my recent videos - I love it. Yes, we could have better gear; the weather could be nicer; it’d be awesome if we could still travel to other countries and visit amazing locations. We have to let go of our expectations and do with whatever we got, because there’s always an image to be made. It’s out there, waiting for us. Let’s go get it.
This was issue #1 of my new-newsletter. I hope you enjoyed it. Please feel free to reply to this email telling me what you think, what you’d like to see / read here, or just to say hi.
This is all for today, I hope you all have an amazing week and stay safe,
Adrian
